Since its founding in 2010, the company has served the St. Louis Metro area and Southwestern Illinois, offering a comprehensive range of inspection services.

Meet Jay
Licensed Home Inspector
Jay Hawley is a licensed home inspector with Hawley Inspections, providing thorough, unbiased residential inspections with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and client education. His training and inspection approach mirror the same standards and practices used by owner Matt Hawley, ensuring consistent quality and attention to detail on every inspection.
Jay is a Certified Master Inspector, Certified Professional Inspector, InterNACHI Certified Inspector with over 10 years’ experience inspecting homes. Jays formal home inspection training and field instruction aligned with Illinois licensing requirements and nationally recognized inspection standards. He is trained to evaluate all major residential systems and components, including structure, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and interior and exterior conditions, with an emphasis on identifying material defects, safety concerns, and conditions that warrant further evaluation.
As part of the Hawley Inspections team, Jay follows established inspection procedures and reporting standards and utilizes modern inspection tools and reporting software to deliver clear, detailed reports supported by photographs and concise explanations. He takes pride in communicating findings clearly and helping clients understand both the condition of the property and the significance of any issues discovered.
Outside of work, Jay enjoys riding his bike, spending time in the woods, and canoeing. These interests reflect his appreciation for the outdoors and attention to detail—qualities that carry over into his professional work and approach to every inspection.

Certified Home Inspector
Nicholas “Nic” Boyles is a home inspector with Hawley Inspections, providing detailed and objective residential inspections with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and clear communication. He approaches every inspection with a methodical mindset to ensure clients receive reliable information about the condition of a property.
Nic is a certified inspector with InterNACHI trained to evaluate all major residential systems and components, including structure, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and interior and exterior conditions. His inspections emphasize identifying material defects, safety concerns, and conditions that may require repair or further evaluation.
As part of the Hawley Inspections team, Nic follows established inspection procedures and reporting standards to maintain consistency and quality across every inspection. He uses modern inspection tools and clear photo documentation to deliver easy-to-understand reports that help clients make informed decisions.
Outside of inspections, Nic enjoys working on cars, playing classic video games, listening to country music, and spending time with computers and technology. These interests reflect his hands-on, detail-oriented nature and problem-solving mindset, which translate directly into his approach to inspecting homes.
Meet Buck
Chief Morale Officer
Buck is the official office cat of Hawley Inspections and a proud orange tabby with a strong work ethic—at least when naps aren’t involved. As Chief Morale Officer, Buck specializes in stress reduction, quality control supervision, and reminding the team when it’s time to take a break.
When he’s not overseeing paperwork from a strategic desk location, Buck can be found monitoring office activity, greeting visitors (on his terms), and ensuring the workplace remains calm and welcoming. His presence contributes to a relaxed, focused environment that helps the Hawley Inspections team stay sharp and client-focused.
Buck takes his role seriously, even if his schedule includes frequent naps, window watching, and the occasional keyboard inspection. He is a valued member of the Hawley Inspections team and an important part of the company culture.
